What is true Love?”

Ring
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it
does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is
not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
and always perseveres. Love never fails."

I Corinthians 13:4-8a

This verse describes the characteristics of true love.
These qualities can certainly be found in the person of Jesus Christ, and they
can be found in all truly loving relationships. The problem with trying to
"find" love in our dating lives is that too often we don’t look for
these characteristics.Rather we look at physical appearance, popularity, or
wealth. These are not the qualities that God looks at and neither should we."But
the LORD said to Samuel, ‘…The LORD does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’"I
Samuel 16:7b

I’m totally inlove right now. When i love a person, I
certainly give everything unconditionaly. In a very real sense, each of us has
been given a gold gift filled with unconditional love and kisses from our loved
ones. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold but the true
meaning of love. I want to spend quality time and simply being with the person
i love most. I don’t care what he looks like, what he does, what he have. What
I do care is the truthfulness and his honestly, the true love and magic from
within. I don’t care about his past, what matters most are his present and his
future. His simpliest way of showing
how important I am, and the understanding that gives me a peace of mind. He’s my
life… and my world.

Ice Cream for the Soul

Last week I took my family to a restaurant. My 3-year-old niece asked if she could say
grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the
food, and I would even thank you more if Ate Dhey gets us ice cream for dessert. And
Liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark,
"That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking
God for ice cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my niece burst into tears and asked me, "ate, did I do it wrong? Is God mad
at me?"

As I held her and assured her that she had done a terrific job and God was certainly not
mad at her, an elderly gentleman approached our table.

He winked at my niece and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."

"Really?" my niece asked.

"Cross my heart." Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose
remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little
ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought them ice cream at the end of the meal. My niece stared at her for a
moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.

She picked up her sundae and without a word walked over and placed it in front of the woman.
With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes, and my soul is good already."

All Saint’s Day

Halloween or All Saint’s day? what will you choose? Trick or treat or the Filipino tradition of celebrating this feast by cooking and offering the favorite of the our departed one? Well I guess it’s
already 2006 and it doesn’t matter if we celebrate both tradition.

Me and my family useally go to the cemetery 31st of October for overnight vigil. My grandfather’s grave is full of lighted candles
and flowers. Besides his picture frame are the following:

1. favorite food:
mocca cake, pork bb-q, pansit canton, maja blanca {my grandmother’s specialty} menudo,{we use to call it “walang kamatayang menudo”}coffee {sa kanya pala ko nagmana}, biko {kinakain namin para di langamin hehe} and fruits. This is our Filipino and Chinese tradition. We offer them their favorite food, sabi ng mga matatanda kinakain daw nila to. We need to give them some thing pag dalaw nila dito.

2. flowers:
di pwede kalimutan un, Lola ko pa? Bili ng bili ng flowers as in matabunan na puntod ni lolo

3. cadles:
yung nag sisilbing light ng mga soul nila on their journey.

4. cigaret:
Baka kasi multuhin kami if hindi namin hinanda sa kanila
 un…

5. Altar:
Naglalagay tayo ng small altar kasi nag dadasal ung
buong family. Kaya nga may vigil, so ung mga bata they learn how to
Pray, wala silang chooice or else lagot sila kay Lola {“kaw ba naman may lola na madre and lolo na pare”brother and sister ni lola}

We stay there for like overnight, then after 3:00pm the next day Nov. 1 prepair na kami for treak or treat… She want everything perfect and she want it complete. Malungkot especially now… I really miss her. Kulang nalang buong bahay dalin namin. Malungkot sabihin na madaming nawala last year and this year… Puro pa sila ilaw ng tahanan… okay lang mag party if you really love going to libis, malate, makati, timog etc. Pero we can do that anytime. This time… huwag natin pabayaan na magisa sila sa mga puntod nila while other’s grave eh may mga family and friends na nagbabantay. Clean up their grave and pray for their souls as well. Pansin ko sa mga pilipino, kahit nandyan si paeng {name na bagyo if di mo kilala si paeng} eh lumuluwas talaga ng province or overnight talaga sa cemetery. I really admire and love this tradition. I’m proud that I’m a filipino for this. Ganto natin pinapakita how much we value and how much we miss ourdeparted one. Pls. Pray or their souls and kung hindi kayo makapunta, it’s okay as long as reasonable naman ung excuse mo why you can’t go. Just don’t forget to pray for them. Sana kahit hindi undas, maalala mo lng sila, I’m pretty sure masayang masaya na sila malaman un! :D
